Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning department resources, manpower and budget related to SUI Operations. The position undertakes data capture, call center, human resource objectives and implementation of production, productivity, quality, and client-service standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of SUI operations including call center, escrow, training and development and data entry to ensure timely, cost-effective, accurate and consistent processes and procedures. Maintains the department’s high-quality efforts, and low error record.
  • Determines data capture and client support service requirements by benchmarking best practices to identify trends, determine system enhancements, assess and re-design work flow processes. Analyzes information and applications and implements changes in the best interest of SUI and its customers.
  • Works collaboratively with Sales and Client Services to develop and deliver effective service delivery options and plans.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within the functional area. Makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems related to same.
  • Monitors and proactively escalates production, staffing, backlog and system issues to appropriate parties including IT/IS, Sales, Client Services and Senior Management. Assists in the coordination of responses to escalated client issues and concerns.
  • Advises Operations supervisory staff on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, etc. Ensures Operations staff are adhering to company policy and administering practices in fair and equitable manner.
  • Meets data capture and client support financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
  • Serves as backup for Accounting and Treasury function.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions of employees, including planning and reviewing compensation actions.
  • Supports human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees effectively. Consults with human resources as appropriate.
  • Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Develops and updates Operations SOP’s to meet regulatory compliance and operational needs.
  • Other related projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Operations Managers manages non-supervisory employees. The person in this position would be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of their direct reports. Supervisory responsibilities include performing these duties in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws (i.e. interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems).

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree and seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

· At least three years of leadership experience

· At least six years of prior property & casualty insurance experience

· Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
