Chief Compliance Officer

Kirk is Chief Compliance Officer and serves on the Senior Leadership Team for Steamboat Group, spearheading industry-leading compliance, governance, and quality control best practices for the company and risk management/compliance advisory services offered to financial service providers. He has over 35 years of regulatory experience, having served 20 years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). There, he served in various roles of increasing responsibility. These include Senior Advisor to the Senior Deputy Director of Supervisory Examinations in the Division of Supervision, where he assisted the Senior Deputy Director in mitigating risk to the FDIC’s insurance fund through assistance to the national Supervisory Examinations office for both safety and soundness and consumer protection during a significant time when the U.S. banking system suffered the worst financial crisis in modern times.

Prior to joining FDIC’s management team, Kirk served as Case Manager in the FDIC’s Atlanta Regional Office and as an instructor for FDIC for safety and soundness assistant examiners. Kirk is an active member of the American Bankers Association’s Flood Insurance Working Group and has served on various boards and committees within the financial services trade industries. Kirk is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) through ABA’s Institute of Certified Bankers, holds a BBA degree in finance with honors from Marshall University, and a distinguished graduate from Stonier Graduate School of Banking held at Georgetown University.
