It is with great sadness that we share that OSC’s namesake and former leader Larry Overby has passed away.

Larry’s inspiring career in the financial services industry spanned over 45 years. Larry began his career with Irby-Seawell in 1976 as a Vice-President, Sales & Marketing. In 1987, he became President after purchasing the banking division and renamed the company to Overby-Seawell. He built an impressive values-driven insurance and tracking company over the years and was a well-regarded leader in the industry.

To his credit and demonstrating his understanding of clients’ needs, Larry built upon a solid base of auto lending and real estate products and broadened the company’s product mix to include an array of sophisticated financial products, technology and services. The enterprise grew to over 500 financial institution clients under his leadership.

His company, at the time a proven regional provider, was acquired by Breckenridge in 2010. Larry continued on with the company as a key Consultant, providing industry insights and product development consultation, and was instrumental in helping us grow nationally.

When not working, you could always find Larry on the links, happily golfing a great round with friends and clients. His caring and helpful manner at work or play resulted in numerous long-standing friendships.

We mourn the loss of his wisdom and mentorship. He will be greatly missed.
